And Break The Pattern!These two reports are the main results of the project UPGEM – understanding puzzles in the gendered European map, where gender differences in the physics culture across the north and south, and east and west of Europe are studied. One of the interesting outcomes of the project is a classification of the working culture in research group, which they believe can be classified into three different types: Hercules, Caretaker and Worker-Bee. The pamphlet can be downloaded here. Career Break ManagementThe Institute of Physics has in january 2006 published this guide on how to prepare and plan a career break. The guide gives advice on how to prepare yourself and your colleagues on a career break, and how to get back into science after the break. The report can be downloaded here.
